The hamlet of Maljasset

Located at the bottom of the Maurin valley, at 1900 metres altitude, Maljasset lies on the edge of the Ubaye in a flat hollow shaped by glaciers long gone. This hamlet is a starting point for walking hikes, horseback rides, cycling, snowshoeing or skiing in winter (hiking). Maljasset provides a majestic setting as a base for these activities; it is also a well-known stop on the Traversée des Alpes and for ski raids.

The Ubaye valley

Situated in the north of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, nestled between the Queyras, the Mercantour park and Italy, the Ubaye valley enjoys exceptional sunshine (at least 300 days/year), and snowfall attested by its ski resorts (Pra-Loup, Vars-Risoul, Sainte-Anne-La Condamine, le Sauze and Super-Sauze).

This lively valley offers an ideal setting for your holiday: hiking, climbing, mountain biking, river descents, fishing in high-altitude lakes and torrents, naturalist activities (exceptional fauna and flora, geology), family activities (beach/lake area, treetop adventure course, summer toboggan), cultural events (music festivals, exhibitions), visits to monuments or sundials, museums of the Valley…

The Maurin valley is a prime climbing area, with summits such as the Aiguille Pierre-André, the Aiguilles du Chambeyron and many routes of all difficulties on the Aiguille Large, the Tête de Sanglier or the Rochers Rouges, the Péouvoux, etc. A wealth of choices that will probably justify several visits!

Mountain biking

A unique mountain-biking area, the Maurin valley is particularly renowned for its cross-border routes for experienced mountain bikers.

Ski touring

Enjoying an international reputation, Maljasset is the start of many ski tours (circuit of the Aiguille Large, Font-Sancte, Col de Mary, Marinet, Longet valley, ...) which allow groups of varying abilities to share the same chalet.

Snowshoe hiking
